Legal
Terms of Service
These terms govern Cleia's website, messaging service, connected services and portal.
Effective 15 September 2026
1. Agreement and eligibility
Cleia is operated by Obscura ("Cleia", "we", "us" or "our"). By accessing or using Cleia, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 and legally capable of entering this agreement. Cleia is for personal use unless we agree otherwise in writing. If you use Cleia for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
2. Accounts
Give accurate and current account information, protect your sign-in methods, and do not allow unauthorised use. Tell us promptly at prince@obscuraai.xyz if credentials are lost or compromised. You are responsible for activity you request, approve or knowingly permit through your account, except to the extent it results from our breach or the law provides otherwise.
3. Inputs, outputs and connected services
You may give Cleia messages, prompts, voice, files and other information, directly or through accounts you connect ("Inputs"). Cleia may generate replies, summaries, plans, drafts and other material ("Outputs") and may prepare or carry out requested actions ("Actions").
You keep ownership of your Inputs. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, adapt and transmit Inputs only as needed to provide, secure, maintain and improve Cleia in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You authorise Cleia to access, retrieve, copy, index and exchange information from a connected service within the permissions you grant. Connected information is treated as an Input. You may revoke access, but disconnecting a service does not automatically delete information already retained by Cleia.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for Inputs and connected accounts, including information about family members, children, colleagues or other people. Your use must comply with applicable law and the connected service's terms.
4. Requested and approved actions
You authorise Cleia to take Actions that you request or approve, including communicating with a connected service, creating or changing records, and transmitting information needed to complete the Action. An Action may create consequences in a third-party service and may not be reversible.
Where Cleia presents an approval step, your approval authorises the exact Action shown and any reasonably necessary technical steps to complete it. It is not unlimited authority for unrelated future Actions. Transactions, commitments and third-party services remain subject to the relevant third party's prices, availability, policies and terms, and an approved Action may bind you as if you performed it yourself.
You must review the proposed recipient, content, date, amount and scope before approval. Records and status reports may be delayed or incomplete, so independently verify consequential Actions in the relevant service. We may require confirmation, refuse or pause an Action for legal, safety, fraud, security or technical reasons.
5. AI risks and appropriate reliance
Cleia uses artificial intelligence. Outputs and Actions can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, offensive or unsuitable, and similar Outputs may be generated for other users. You are responsible for deciding whether an Output is suitable and for reviewing consequential information before relying on it.
Do not use Cleia without meaningful human review for medical, legal, financial, employment, housing, insurance, safety-critical or other high-impact decisions. Cleia is not professional advice or an emergency service.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use Cleia to break the law; facilitate fraud; deceive or impersonate; harass, exploit or unlawfully monitor someone; infringe privacy, intellectual-property or other rights; gain unauthorised access; distribute malware; evade safeguards; interfere with the service; generate unlawful or abusive material; make high-impact decisions about another person without lawful authority and appropriate human judgment; or reverse engineer or extract the service except where law expressly permits it.
You must not use automated means to scrape, overload or disrupt Cleia, or use Cleia or its Outputs to train or build a competing service, except where a restriction is prohibited by law or we agree in writing.
7. Ownership
Obscura and its licensors own Cleia, its software, design, branding and underlying technology. While you comply with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service.
We do not claim ownership of your Inputs. Subject to applicable law and third-party rights, you may use Outputs generated for you. We do not promise that an Output is unique or that intellectual-property rights arise in it. If you provide feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or payment, but this does not transfer ownership of your private content.
8. Fees, renewal, cancellation and refunds
Prices, taxes, billing periods and renewal terms are shown before payment. You authorise our payment processor to charge the payment method you provide. We do not store full card numbers.
A £10 founding-place reservation is not a subscription. It is credited to your first month if you are onboarded and refunded if Cleia cannot onboard you into the stated first cohort. Other fees are refundable only as stated at purchase or required by law.
You may cancel a subscription before renewal using the available account control or by contacting us. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. Statutory cancellation, refund, quality and conformity rights remain unaffected.
9. Beta, availability and changes
Cleia may be offered as a beta. Beta features may be incomplete, change without notice, contain errors or be discontinued. We may maintain, update, restrict or change the service and may set usage limits. Where a change materially reduces a paid consumer service, we will give reasonable notice and any remedy required by law.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, delivery by a particular messaging network, compatibility with every device or connected service, or preservation of a third party's features.
10. Text messaging
When you provide a mobile number and ask to use Cleia by text, you agree to receive service messages needed to respond to your requests, carry authorised work, request an approval, report a result, protect your account, provide support or give an important service update. Service-message frequency depends on the requests and workflows you enable. Message and data rates may apply.
Product news, research invitations, tips or offers require a separate affirmative marketing opt-in where applicable. Marketing consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or service.
Reply STOP to stop Cleia texts to that number. We will send one confirmation and suppress further texts unless required by law. Reply START to resume service messages; marketing resumes only after a clear renewed marketing opt-in. Reply HELP for assistance or email prince@obscuraai.xyz.
Mobile networks are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery and compatibility are not guaranteed. You must control or be authorised to use the number and tell us if it changes hands. Cleia does not currently use SMS one-time passcodes.
11. Third-party services
Cleia relies on service providers and may connect with independent third-party services. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for third-party content, availability, acts or omissions outside our reasonable control. This does not remove any responsibility we cannot lawfully exclude.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cleia and all Outputs are provided "as is" and "as available". We disclaim implied warranties, conditions and representations, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, availability and error-free operation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes the duty to provide UK consumers with services performed with reasonable care and skill or any other warranty, condition or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of rights that cannot be excluded, or any other liability the law does not permit us to limit.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither Obscura nor its officers, employees, contractors, licensors or providers will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss; loss of profits, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or data; or loss arising from an Output, an Action you requested or approved, a connected service, or an event beyond our reasonable control.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of Cleia will not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the fees you paid us for Cleia during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This cap does not apply where prohibited by law or where a mandatory consumer remedy provides otherwise.
14. Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold harmless Obscura and its officers, employees and contractors from third-party claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of Cleia, infringement of another person's rights, breach of your warranties about Inputs or connected accounts, or intentional misconduct. This does not require you to indemnify us for our own breach, negligence or unlawful conduct, and it applies to consumers only to the extent fair and enforceable under applicable law.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Cleia at any time. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect people or the service, investigate suspected misuse, comply with law, address non-payment or respond to an urgent security risk. We may terminate for a serious breach or on reasonable notice where appropriate.
Termination does not remove accrued rights or obligations. Provisions concerning ownership, payment, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes survive where their nature requires. Data rights and retention are governed by the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
16. Governing law and disputes
Contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. If you are a UK consumer, the law and courts of the part of the UK where you live apply. If you live elsewhere, mandatory local consumer protections and any court you are legally entitled to use remain available. These Terms do not require private arbitration or waive collective rights the law gives you.
17. General
We may update these Terms for legal, security or service changes. We will identify the revised date and give reasonable notice of a material change. If fresh agreement is required, we will ask for it. If one term is unenforceable, the rest continue. Delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a genuine reorganisation or sale, without reducing your mandatory rights.
